Writing Way Too Many Checks

These days I feel like I am writing way too many checks.  It is frustrating because I am just not sure where all the bills come from.  In an effort to get organized though I balanced my checking account for the last six months of activity last night and I feel much better now.  I had been running widely unorganized the last few months and had no idea what I had been spending my monthly salary on.  But now with my new accounting software package, I can run reports smoothly and easily to see exactly where my expenses are going.  This should help me meet my New Year’s goals of saving at least 10 percent of my monthly earnings.  But to meet this goal, I am definitely going to have to cut back on my dining out expenses.  Because that is a totally discretionary expense that I can easily cut back on.
