I have never been one to live alone, so when my current room mate moved out I started the search for a new one. I found a nice girl who was a Pharmacy Assistant at the local pharmacy in town and she just so happened to be looking for a room mate as well. We chatted for a while and ultimately she moved in. And everything worked out great for years. She continued in school and went on to get so many degrees and certifications. I was only a friend, but I was even real proud of her.

She has since moved out and married but the other day I got an email with the face of a beautiful baby boy. I scrolled down in the picture and it was her son! She had a baby boy and was sending me pictures. For it to be several years later and for us to keep in touch is a great thing for both of us.

In the UK and Ireland, Mothers Day or Mothering Sunday falls on the ...The storm had struck the city. And for a week, the picture of what used to be a bustling city had been wiped out. All you can see are ruins from buildings submerged a few feet under water. The damage may amount to millions. Almost all transactions were put to a stand still. Schools were temporarily closed down and were transformed into evacuation centers. People were busy trying to figure out what to do with what is left of the city after the raging storm.

Help from neighboring areas came and we couldn’t be more thankful. Many have volunteered to do electrician jobs to fix the severed electrical wirings which may be hazardous to the residents. There were truckloads of relief goods from the government. It was a catastrophe. Nonetheless, there’s much to be thankful for. It has united the people. There were only a few who were injured and no life had been lost.

But does this really mean that both men and women have an equal probability of getting selected for a particular job? There are some fields in which women are considered to be more efficient and some in which men are considered to be efficient. In domestic jobs such as maintaining a household, cooking and looking after children etc, women are more suitable for the role rather than men. Similarly in jobs which require high manual work and muscle power, men are preferred rather than women because they are stronger than them. This might not actually be gender biased because there is logic that supports this theory. However in fields such as business, doctors and teaching etc, where both men and women are equally capable, if one gender is preferred over other, then this does show that gender biasness is present.
